Mentoring Scheme
Mentoring is a great way to learn new skills and consolidate your expertise. The WACOSS Regional Community Leadership and Development Program offers mentoring to people who work in community services. An individual provides support, encouragement and advice to another, based on their knowledge, life and experience. Mentoring is a two-way learning experience for both mentor and mentee, which can encourage deep satisfaction and numerous benefits in many personal, career, organisational and developmental areas.

The WACOSS Regional Community Leadership and Development Program employs a range of strategies that promote sustainability (eg. train the trainer programs, mentoring and education in community development processes) to maintain outcomes beyond this Program. It fosters the emergence of sound community service leaders who are more efficiently and effectively able to manage their organisations, and also act as mentors to others.

The mentoring scheme

* Provides support and encouragement to those who participate to pass on information, knowledge and skills they may have acquired and to encourage and mentor others to do the same;

* Supports community service networks in the process towards self-determination and in building their capacity to mentor other networks both intra- and inter-regionally.

* Facilitates the emergence of leaders/mentors who can mentor others.
