What is Emergency Relief?

The Emergency Relief (ER) Sector are government funded and unfunded services that provide emergency financial or other assistance to individuals and families in immediate financial crisis.  Financial assistance may be provided in the form of cash, a food parcel/voucher/ and/or the payment of essentials bills such as rent, electricity, water or gas.

The Emergency Relief Services are often offered as specific Emergency Relief programs or as part of an already existing program. Whilst there are many paid workers within the ER sector, most ER services are delivered by committed volunteers.

If you are not sure if you are an ER service please contact WACOSS Emergency Relief Sector Support Program on 9420 7222.
