MY LIFE: MY WAY – Self-directed Services Forum Summary and Outcomes

September 26, 2011

The My Life: My Way self-directed services forum was held on August 10 at the University Club UWA.  Over 200 people, including people who use services and representatives from community services organisations and government agencies, participated in the lively World Cafe style forum.  The purpose of the forum was to generate ideas about what is needed for self-directed services to be expanded across the community and human services sector in Western Australia.

A summary of the My Life: My Way forum provided by the Department of Premier and Cabinet can be read by clicking here.

Key questions discussed at the forum included:
1.    What will it take, what needs to change, for the people of Western Australia to have greater control of their own services and supports?
2.    What are the opportunities in people having greater control of their supports and services?
3.    What are the challenges in people having greater control of their supports and services?
4.    What are the most important elements that make self-directed services and supports work?
5.    How will we know we are making progress?

The key points and outcomes that were discussed in relation to the forum questions can be read by clicking here.
