Regional WA covers more than 2.5 million square kilometres and is home to over 600,000 people. The vast distances and low population density provides significant difficulties for regional community service providers.
The growing capacity constraints facing regional community services are the most profound. WACOSS is working to assist regional service providers to build capacity through enhanced collaboration and coordination between organisations.
Currently, we are working in Partnership with the Peel Community Development Group on a capacity building project, Building Resilience in Community Services (BRICS). Expanding this project to the nine regions across the state would greatly improve the capacity of regional community service networks, and better inform the policy development and planning of peak organisations and governments.
