BOOK NOW! Emerging Issues 1st April
WACOSS is holding its third annual Emerging Issues Seminar on Friday1st April 2011. Following on from the highly successful 2010 event the seminar will provide a comprehensive overview of the most important emerging trends and issues that will affect the community services sector in 2011. The seminar covers five key topic areas: social, political, economic, environment and service delivery. Delivered by WACOSS senior staff and guest speakers, the seminar provides detailed up-to-date information which assists all organisations in planning for and responding to these critical issues.
Respected former ABC political commentator PETER KENNEDY will provide expert comments on emerging political trends that will impact on the community sector.
Peter will be joined by NICKY CUSWORTH, Deputy Director General, Strategic Policy Department of State Development who will provide an overview of the likely impact of the resources boom and associated emerging economic issues.

WACOSS Management Support Online Workshops 11th & 12th April
WACOSS announces the launch of the WACOSS Management Support Online (MSO) service for not for profit and community based organisations based in Western Australia.
WACOSS MSO is an online comprehensive, integrated and innovative service – a 'one stop convenience shop' that works like a virtual 'help desk' for Managers, Management Committee and Board Members, Staff Teams and Volunteers.
This 2 hour FREE Workshop will provide an in depth orientation and exploration of each of the WACOSS MSO service areas. It will demonstrate how easy it is get what you need, when you need it, and help your organisation to build capability, performance and to profile your organisation for success.

WACOSS IntERactions Emergency Relief Conference 17- 18th May
This year's ER Conference titled Renaming and Reframing ER, will debate the fundamental issues such as rethinking what we do and how we deliver our services. Guest speakers include Cassandra Goldie, CEO ACOSS, Wilma Gallet, Social Consultant and Author. We also delighted that Graham Mabury will be the MC for the two days. Mental Health Commission workshop – progressing the conversation about individualised support and funding
On Thursday 10 March the Mental Health Commission held the first of a series of workshops designed to progress the conversation about individualised support and funding in mental health in Western Australia.
The workshop involved key stakeholders in the mental health sector. The purpose of the meeting was to share ideas on the opportunities and challenges that individualised support and funding present for the mental health sector in WA.

Funds for Freedom is Launched on International Women's Day
On the Centenary of International Women's Day, 8 March 2011, the Funds for Freedom (FFF) was launched by founding member and advocate, Angela Russo in partnership with the Women's Council for DFV Services, at City West Lotteries House in West Perth. The FFF aims to assist women and children to make a fresh start, after fleeing their homes because of domestic and family violence.
