Nominations Now Open for Community Service Excellence Awards

On the 22nd January, Community Services Minister Robyn McSweeney, together with WACOSS President Chris Hall, officially  opened nominations for the new Community Services Excellence Awards. The awards celebrate outstanding community service by organisations and individuals and the role they play to shape, strengthen and inspire our community.

The Department for Communities has joined with WACOSS to deliver the recognition and reward program.

The Department for Communities and WACOSS, together with the generous support of Lotterywest, are working together to ensure that we celebrate the excellent services provided by WA’s not-for-profit community sector.

Finalists will be provided with significant marketing and promotional opportunities, increasing the profile of both the finalists and the sector as a whole.

A new initiative is the Sector’s Choice Award. Once finalists are announced, the community sector will be invited to vote for the entrant they think should be rewarded for outstanding achievement by their peers.

Winners will each receive a $5,000 grant from Lotterywest.

The awards ceremony will be held on the 13th May at a Gala Dinner running in conjunction with the 2010 WACOSS Conference.
