About WACOSS

The Western Australian Council of Social Service Inc (WACOSS) is the peak body of the community service sector across Western Australia. Since 1956, WACOSS has been developing and strengthening the non-government social services sector's capacity to assist all Western Australians. With over 350 members, WACOSS has strong relationships with the social services sector and seeks to represent their interests, and those of the disdvantaged individuals and families they assist at a service level.

Over the last 50 years WACOSS has been positively influencing social policy and helping develop non-government agencies with useful, practical tools. WACOSS work includes representation and advocacy, policy advice and social research. WACOSS services include training and support for the development of member organisations and non-government community service providers.

WACOSS and its members share a vision of a socially just and sustainable West Australian society where people care for each other and have access to the resources and opportunities required for their wellbeing. At the heart of its activities, lies the belief that the mark of a civilised community is the support and help it gives to those most in need.

WACOSS is part of a national network that includes the Australian Council of Social Service (ACOSS) and State and Territory Councils of Social Service.

WACOSS aims to make a difference and plans to continue making a positive contribution to Shaping the Future.
