The WA Council of Social Service will be holding our 2006 bi-annual conference entitled "Shaping the Future: Social Services & Solutions for Tomorrow" at the Sheraton Perth Hotel, 4 – 5 May 2006.

The social services sector faces challenges and opportunities in the pursuit of effective service delivery and positive social change.

At the broadest levels, ideological and political orientation of Governments, changing cultural norms, shifting societal values, media and corporate influence, community priorities and growing social problems impact both directly and indirectly on the social services sector.

Closer to home, funding policy, independence in role and authority, negotiation of partnerships with Government and the private sector, increasing regulation, emerging technology and the need for leadership, shared vision and greater unity shape the social services sector of tomorrow.

The bi-annual WACOSS Conference provides an opportune time to come together to learn, discuss and develop solutions to pressing sector and social issues in WA.

The conference presents participants with the opportunity to engage in dialogue about the change we want to see - stimulating new ideas and inspiring us all to act for a socially just future. This conference is a chance for social service Workers and Volunteers to renew their passion for their work.
