Fiona White-Hartig

Chair | Regional Development Australia Pilbara

Fiona is the Chair of Regional Development Australia – Pilbara, who are responsible for administering the Federal Government’s Communities for Children funding throughout the West Pilbara. She is also an Independent Board Director for an Aboriginal Corporation

Fiona has had over 23 years’ experience in working in the social services sector.  This ranges from roles in disability services, youth justice services, youth accommodation and outreach services, early childhood programs, youth services, emergency relief, aged care and drug and alcohol services.

With a strong commitment to social justice, Fiona advocates on a daily basis for social change and to improve the lives of people that are socially and economically disadvantaged, especially in relation to people living in remote and regional Western Australia.

She believes that the community services sector is intrinsic in not only delivering vital services, but also in providing crucial information and lobbying government about the needs of the sector.  Without this input, government won’t be able to make informed decisions around social policy and the differing needs of the various regions of Western Australia – Fiona feels that WACOSS is pivotal in this role, representing the community services sector and the needs of individuals that are unable to speak for themselves.
